On October 10, 2024, Ambassador Zhao Weiping traveled to the Ohangwena Region in northern Namibia to visit H.E. Dr. Hifikepunye Pohamba, former President of the Republic of Namibia.

Former President Pohamba recalled his experiences with China during his participation in Namibia's independence struggle and his time in office after the independence. He spoke highly of the traditional friendship between China and Namibia, expressing appreciation to the Chinese government and people for their support for Namibia's independence struggle and national development. He referred to China and Namibia as all-weather friends.

Ambassador Zhao extended his deep appreciation to former President Pohamba for his important contributions to the development of China-Namibia relations and wished to have his continuous support for the development of the bilateral relations.
