Ambassador Zhao Weiping Hosts Press Conference

On October 17, Ambassador Zhao Weiping held his second press conference of this year at the Embassy. Journalists from 9 mainstream media agencies, including the NBC, the Namibian Sun, New Era and the Namibian, attended the conference.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Zhao briefed the Media Houses on the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, China’s economic development, the outcome of the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) as well as the highlights of China-Namibia relations this year. He pointed out that Chinese President Xi Jinping and Namibian President Nangolo Mbumba held a successful bilateral meeting during the FOCAC Summit, and reached important consensus on further pushing forward China-Namibia Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership. China is ready to work with Namibia to deepen practical cooperation in various fields for the even greater benefits to the people of both countries.

Ambassador Zhao also answered questions from Namibian media such as China’s role as a member of the Global South, China-US relations and China-Namibia economic cooperation.
