Good morning.

First, I wish to thank Vice-Chancellor Matengu and the UNAM for hosting this Handover Ceremony of the Book Donation. It’s indeed my great honor and pleasure to donate 94 books to the Namibia School of Diplomatic Studies (NSDS) on behalf of the Chinese Embassy.

It’s our second time to donate books to the NSDS. With this small donation, we wish to reaffirm our support for the development of this most important institution of diplomatic training and research in Namibia.

Honorable Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, Minister of International Relations and Trade, called on the diplomatic missions in Namibia to approach the NSDS and get involved in her briefing to the Diplomatic Corps last Friday.

I wish to take this opportunity to tell our Namibian friends that the Chinese Embassy stands ready to establishing close partnership with the NSDS. In future, we can do a lot more together. We will be attentive to your needs, and we will provide assistance to the best of our abilities.

The books we donated this time are some important Chinese publications written in English, including The Governance of China, the compilations of speeches and remarks by our President His Excellency Xi Jinping, as well as other works that reflect China’s governance philosophy, poverty alleviation and Chinese modernization. I hope and believe that these books will help our Namibian friends know more about the policies and practices of the Chinese Government in key areas.

In conclusion, I wish to thank Vice Chancellor Professor Matengu again for his leadership in deepening the friendly exchanges and cooperation between the UNAM and China. And wish the UNAM and its diplomatic school even greater achievements. Thank you.
