Good afternoon.

First, I wish to thank the Sam Nujoma Foundation and the New Era Publication Corporation for hosting this donation handover ceremony, and thank Honorable Minister Steenkamp, Honorable Dr. Angula and Honorable Dr.  Kawana for honoring us this afternoon. 

Today marks the 97th birth anniversary of H.E. Dr. Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma, the Founding President and Father of the Republic of Namibia. It’s indeed my great honor to donate 400 copies of the Coffee Table Book of Dr. Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma to the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture on such an important day on behalf of the Chinese Embassy.

Dr. Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma was an iconic statesman and revolutionary of the older generation in Africa. He was a great leader of Namibia’s liberation struggle, and the beloved Founding President and Father of the Namibian nation. He devoted his life to Namibia’s liberation and development, and made historic contributions to the country’s independence and nation-building.

This coffee table book captures many critical moments in Dr. Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma’s legendary life, which have vividly demonstrated his indomitable spirit of fighting for the national independence, his extraordinary wisdom in guiding the nation and his profound love for this land of the brave and its people.

This book will not only refresh its readers with the great legacy of Dr. Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma, but also encourage them to carry on the endeavors a great leader has started.

Because of that, I believe it’s meaningful for the Embassy to make the donation today, as we know that these books will be distributed to the libraries of various schools across the country. Youth represents the future of a nation. It’s important for them to know the history of their motherland as well as the heroic deeds of the older generations.

Dr. Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma was also a highly respected old friend of the Chinese people. For us, this donation is also the expression of our endless gratitude to him. We will remember Dr. Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma forever as the symbol of China-Namibia friendship.
