Ladies and Gentlemen,

Good evening!

Today we are gathering here in Chinese Embassy at this beautiful and vigorous season to celebrate the 64th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China and a fast growing China-Namibia relationship. This is the 2nd National Day since I took my position last July, when I started my work with great enthusiasm, and beneficial interaction with H.E. President of the Republic of Namibia, Rt. Hon. Prime Minister and Hon. Ministers. I have visited almost every region of Namibia, to achieve better understanding about this country and its people.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The year 2013 is an important year of the development of China. There are 3 special events to the Chinese people. First, the new leadership of China has established the goal of boosting economy, improving people's livelihood and social justice, by facilitating stable economic growth, adjusting structure and reform. Second, the economic growth of China in the first half of this year reached 7.6%, continuing its leading role among the emerging economies. Third, 1.3 billion Chinese people are devoting themselves to realize the "China Dream", symbolized by economic prosperity, national rejuvenation, and well-being of the people. China will stick to its path of peaceful development, remain committed to an independent foreign policy of peace, and follow an open strategy of mutual benefit. China will also join other countries in the world to make great efforts with a view to accomplishing China Dream and building lasting peace and common prosperity in the world.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

China-Namibia relationship was forged in revolutionary age and further developed in Namibia's social and economic construction after Independence. Namibia has always been a good comrade, good partner and good brother and sister to China. We share mutual respect, trust and support. The all-weather friendship between China and Namibia is continuing to deepen over time:

1. Economic and trade cooperation expands continuously, aiming at practical results and social effects. The biggest investment project of China in Africa, Huseb Uranium worth of 5 billion US dollars started construction in April. The upgrading of North Road also begun, and the building of Youth Training Centre finically supported by the Chinese Government is almost finished. All these projects will contribute to Namibia's infrastructure construction, job creation and technology transfer.

2. Chinese culture heats up through active cultural exchanges. "China Affection" Art Troupe, Tianjin Art Troupe and Shenzhen Art Troupe visited Namibia this year, bringing marvelous show of Chinese music, Kongfu (marshal art) and acrobatics. Confucius College was officially launched at the University of Namibia and aims at promoting the widespread of Chinese culture and language, and mutual understanding between our two countries and two peoples.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

When the Chinese delegation come to Namibia, I always introduce Namibia to them like this: as the youngest nation of Southern Africa, Namibia has fantastic scenic spots, diverse culture, splendid history, perfect legal system, well-developed infrastructure, and people with wisdom and hardworking spirits. The Namibian Government led by the SWAPO Party aroused all its efforts to persevere in exploring development strategies that suit the national situations in the last 23 years since Independence. They have contributed greatly to the country's political stability, economic growth, social harmony, people's living standard, and further consolidated Namibia's position in Southern Africa as "Oasis of Peace", "Atlantic Gateway" and "Heaven for Investments". The ongoing Conference COP 11 of UNCCD is appreciation to Namibia's environmental protection achievements from international community. During this conference, the program of combat desertification of Kubuqi Desert of China won an International award. Here I would like to express my sincere admiration and congratulations to your great achievements!

Ladies and Gentlemen,

In pursing the "Vision 2030" and the NDP4, 2.1 million Namibian people decide to realize their "Namibia Dream" of national industrialization, stable economic growth, more jobs and better livelihood. "China Dream" share the same core and conception, which brings high expectations for the future development of our friendship. I will continue to work hard in enhancing our blessed friendship and realizing our shared dreams.
