On April 7, Minister Counsellor Shen Jian attended the 2026 "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition Award Ceremony and the China-Namibia Talent & Art Exhibition of the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges and read Ambassador Zhao Weiping’s remarks. The event was attended by about 300 people including Prof. Kenneth Kamwi Matengu, Vice Chancellor of the University of Namibia, principals of primary and secondary schools in Namibia, Prof. Liu Dianbo, Chinese Director of the Confucius Instutute at the UNAM, as well as representatives of teachers and students. Xinhua News Agency and the Namibia Press Agency covered the event.

In his remarks, Ambassador Zhao spoke highly of the fruitful achievements of Chinese language education in Namibia, emphasizing that it has played an important role in promoting people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. Ambassador Zhao said that Chinese side will actively implement the important consensus reached by Chinese and African leaders and taking the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges as an opportunity to further exchanges and mutual learning between the Chinese and Namibian civilizations and bring the two peoples closer.
Prof. Matengu called for the nationwide promotion of Chinese language education in Namibia and encouraged Namibian students to visit China to experience the country firsthand.
During the China-Namibia Talent & Art Exhibition, teachers and students from the two countries presented performances including Huangmei Opera, shadow puppetry, and traditional African dances, creating a warm and lively atmosphere.
